Calvary Signs Lexi Heaton

Calvary University Volleyball is excited to announce our first signee for the 2020-2021 season, Alexia (Lexi) Heaton of Gravette, AR. Lexi comes to us from Gravette Sr. High School where she was coached by Britany Davis. Lexi is also a 2-time champion with Club Net 18s National under the tutelage of Coach Corey Holcomb. Lexi is a left-handed setter that also hits right side. She began playing volleyball at 12 years of age and hasn’t looked back since. Volleyball is one of Lexi’s passions. When asked about why she chose Calvary Lexi noted, “I love the small and Christian community. I’m from a small school so thinking about going to a big university has always overwhelmed me.” In the recruitment process Coach Johnson noticed Lexi’s gentle spirit and the joy she exuded on the court. Coach Johnson points out, “Lexi is my first recruit which is exciting, but more exciting than that was to hear of her commitment to Jesus. After spending just a short time with her, her kindness and love for others was evident. I am so happy to have Lexi in the fold.”

Lexie plans to study elementary education and in that, fulfill a dream to work with young children. When asked about the team aspect of volleyball Lexi shared, “I have always loved volleyball. It is such a team sport, and you need everyone to make it work.” Lexi is looking forward to having new teammates with whom she can build a family-like bond. Lexi came to know Jesus as a young teenager and her family still has a wonderful relationship with the youth leader who was integral in her understanding and acceptance of the gospel. Lexi is surrounded by a wonderfully supportive family. Sam and LeAnn Heaton couldn’t be prouder. Stephanie was full of excitement on signing day in the Gravette HS gym. Lexi’s family attends Fellowship Bible Church, Rogers, AR. Please join us in August to give a warm Calvary welcome to Alexia Heaton.
