Calvary University played their last regular season game against the Spurgeon Knights on Tuesday evening. The Warriors came out serving aggressively and giving the knights trouble with staying in system with their attacks. There were a few too many errors in the first match, but the team collectively got better in each set which showed in the scores. “We played cohesively and were able to get the win quickly because everyone was performing well in their positions,” said Calvary’s setter Jillian Nipple. “This was crucial because we wanted to get in and out quickly.” Jillian Nipple led the offense with 25 assists. Haley Arneson was unstoppable on the outside with 15 kills and 3 blocks. The defense of Miriam McCubbin, Alli Edwards, and Brooke Behlen was relentless, hardly letting a ball hit the court. The team served tough during the match and collected 10 service aces. “It was a team effort,” said outside hitter Haley Arneson. “We all showed up and worked together as a team rather than individuals. We supported each other, which was nice to see.”
The Warriors prepare to play in the regional tournament this coming Saturday, November 4th @ 3:00 P.M. against Spurgeon College. Come out and support the team one last time!
