Warriors Win Two and are 3-1 in Conference

The Warrior basketball team came out strong from the start this weekend and never looked back as they came away with two conference wins over Faith Baptist Bible College and Emmaus Bible College. “There is a lot of excitement around our yearly matchup with Faith and Emmaus,” Coach Sanders said. “Both teams look forward to these games every year.”

The Warriors beat Faith in Iowa last year and split with Emmaus. They wanted to defend their home court this weekend as the Pyramid Athletic Center was packed with a great fan turnout on both nights. “The Black Hole was great this weekend,” Warrior Head Coach Matt Sanders said. “Their support means a lot to us and they cheered loud throughout the games. It was a great atmosphere in here.”

“Our defense has improved,” Sanders said. “For the most part we did a great job of communicating and closing out on shooters and not giving up many open looks.  The key for us this weekend was that we were able to get contributions from everyone,” Sanders said. “It was a total team effort and I’m proud of the way we played. Our freshmen played like sophomores through both games.” On Friday Ben Jones led the way offensively with 17 points, while Zeb Green scored 16. Ques Harris added 11 points with Zak Kirkman contributing 10 to the cause.

On Saturday Braydon Unruh led the way with 27 points. He finished shooting 6/11 from beyond the arc. Zeb Green contributed a huge double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. The Warriors forced Faith to shoot just 33% from the field. On Saturday they improved this stat yet again and held Emmaus to 29% shooting. With the win, the Warriors move to 6-7 on the season and 3-1 in the Midwest Christian College Conference. The team will be back in action Tuesday night as they host Ozark Christian College at 7 p.m.
